Peter Stabolepszy’s Climbing Resume

1974   First great ascent was King Rock in Chautauqua Park at age 7 years old, on the same day I climbed Prince Rock as well.

1975-1988 Over 100 first ascents of various trees in Chautauqua Park and Boulder which developed comfort with heights and a good strong grip, as well as keen balance.

1976 I climbed my first thirteener at age 9, Mt. Audubon

1978 At age 11, I did my first solo camping trip with 2 friends and climbed Jasper Peak in the Indian Peaks Wilderness

Began climbing summits on a regular basis, when I was 16, in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.  By the end of high school in 1985, I had climbed all 12ers and 13ers in these areas.

During my junior high and high school years, I made hundreds of free climb ascents of the Flatirons and several El Dorado climbs ranging from 5.5 to 5.8.  I learned to climb through trial and error, surviving the era of free climbing!!!!

1986  Age 19, made the commitment to climb every peak above 13000 feet in Colorado according to the Garrett and Martin list.

Since age 19, the thirteeners have taught me everything I need to know to get to the top of them, and most importantly come back home, though their have been numerous times I’ve almost kicked the bucket.

Thank the mountain gods for the realization of mortality!!!

September 2, 2006, I climbed my 741st peak over 13000 feet, UN 13,420.

Have climbed over 250 12ers in Colorado.
